To Do and What Not To Do Before and After Your Spray Tan

To Do Before:

Not To Do Before:

Not To Do Before:

1. Exfoliate 24 Hours Before
Gently exfoliate to remove dead skin cells—this helps your tan go on evenly and last longer.

2. Shave or Wax in Advance
Do any hair removal at least 24 hours before your appointment to avoid irritation and uneven color.

3. Shower Before Your Tan
Come to your appointment clean—no sweat, lotions, perfumes, deodorants, or makeup. These can block the tan from absorbing properly.

4. Wear Loose, Dark Clothing
After your tan, you’ll want soft, loose-fitting clothes to avoid rubbing off the product.

5. Tie Up Your Hair
Bring a hair tie or clip to keep hair off your neck and back during the spray.

6. Stay Dry for 8–12 Hours After
Avoid water, sweating, and tight clothes until your tan sets.

7. Moisturize Daily After Rinsing
Keeping your skin hydrated helps your tan fade evenly and last longer

Not To Do Before:

1. Don’t Apply Lotion, Oils, or Deodorant Before Your Tan
These create a barrier and can cause patchy or uneven color.

2. Don’t Shower Right Before Your Appointment
Give your skin at least 4 hours after showering so your pores have time to close.

3. Don’t Wear Tight Clothing or Bras After Your Tan
Anything that rubs can remove the product or create lines.

4. Don’t Book Right After Waxing or Shaving
Your skin needs time to calm down (wait at least 24 hours).

5. Don’t Get Wet Too Soon
No sweating, swimming, or showering until your tan has fully developed (usually 8–12 hours).

6. Don’t Exfoliate After the Tan is Applied
Only exfoliate before your appointment—scrubbing after will cause the tan to fade quickly and unevenly.

7. Don’t Forget to Plan Ahead
If you have an event, book your tan 1–2 days before for the best results.

Not To Do After:

1. Wait 8–12 Hours Before Rinsing
Let your tan fully develop before showering. When you do rinse, use lukewarm water—no soap for the first rinse!

2. Moisturize Daily
Hydrated skin = a longer-lasting, more even tan. Use a fragrance-free lotion at least once a day.

3. Use Gentle Products
Switch to mild, sulfate-free body washes and skip anything with exfoliants or harsh chemicals.

4. Pat Dry, Don’t Rub
After showering, gently pat your skin dry with a towel to avoid rubbing off your tan.

5. Wear Loose, Comfy Clothes
Even after your rinse, tight clothes can still cause friction that fades your tan faster.

6. Stay Cool
Avoid heavy sweating, saunas, and hot tubs for the next few days—they’ll break down your tan quicker.

7. Enjoy Your Glow!
With proper care, your tan should last 5–7 days. Keep moisturizing and avoid scrubbing until you’re ready for your next session.

Not To Do After:

1. Don’t Shower Too Soon
Avoid rinsing off for at least 8–12 hours so the tan has time to fully develop.

2. Don’t Use Soap During Your First Rinse
Just rinse with warm water—no body wash, scrubs, or shaving during that first shower.

3. Don’t Sweat It Out
No gym, sauna, or hot yoga for the first 24 hours. Sweat can cause streaking or patchiness.

4. Don’t Wear Tight Clothing or Bras Right Away
Tight fabrics can rub off the tan, especially in high-friction areas.

5. Don’t Exfoliate or Shave for a Few Days
Let your tan settle—exfoliating too soon will fade it faster.

6. Don’t Use Oils, Harsh Soaps, or Alcohol-Based Products
These can strip your tan. Stick to gentle, hydrating products.

7. Don’t Forget to Moisturize
Dry skin = faster fading. Skipping lotion can lead to uneven wear-off.
